My beautiful wife’s name is Joan and we have two children (Emma Grace “Gracie” who will soon be eight and Elijah Gunnar “Gunnar” who is almost two).
God has taken me on a wonderful journey to get me to this point in my walk with Him and to the ministry at Great Bridge Baptist Church. I have served in the United States Navy and in education as a public school teacher, Christian school teacher, and Christian school principal. Within the local church I have also served as a Children’s Pastor. My Bachelor’s Degree is in Education K-8 from Longwood College and my Master’s Degree is from Regent University in Christian Education Leadership.
Because I come from a broken home and did not grow up in church, part of my heart’s desire and passion is to help strengthen families and serve our community—demonstrate authentic Christianity. It is my sincere prayer that as we seek to share God’s truth and love with the community we will make disciples of our families and as we seek to make disciples of our families we will selflessly serve our community. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

South Alabama is where I grew up; in a rural area outside of Red Level. I received my undergraduate degree from Troy State University (Troy, AL) and my master of arts in religious education with church recreation emphasis from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ft. Worth, TX).
Since 1985, I have served full-time in student ministry in churches located in North Carolina, Alabama, and Virginia. In July 1985, I married Ruth Anne Fletcher, a Missouri gal I found in Texas. We have two grown children, Anna Rebekah and Jon Andrew. Ruth Anne has taught at Butts Road Intermediate since moving to Chesapeake when I was called to serve as Minister to Students at Great Bridge Baptist in August 2006.
I really enjoy March Madness every year. Go sic'em Bears!

My beautiful wife is Kim. My heart is to serve the Children of GBBC and their families. My goal is to teach them the Bible, bringing them to a personal acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ so that they can carry that relationship up till they are graduates and throughout their lifetime.
